Is amla better than a vitamin C supplement?

They serve a similar core purpose but differently. Isolated vitamin C supplements (like ascorbic acid) provide a single, concentrated compound, whereas amla is a whole food that delivers vitamin C alongside naturally occurring polyphenols, tannins, and antioxidant enzymes- compounds that are thought to work synergistically and may support better vitamin C stability and absorption compared to a synthetic isolate. Neither is strictly “better” across the board. Whole-food sources like amla appeal to people who prefer to get nutrients in a more natural, whole-food form, while isolated supplements offer a more precise, concentrated dose. Many people use both as part of a broader approach to immune and antioxidant support.
