Triphala is an herbal concoction developed by the ancient Ayurvedic herbalists, which consist of three medicinal plants native to India. These are Haritaki, Bibhitaki and Amla.

Amla (Emblica officinalis) a rejuvenating fruit 

Bihitaki (Terminalia bellirica) – a great anti-inflammatory 

Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) – often referred to as the ‘king of medicines’ in Ayurvedic manuals 

It’s believed that by combining synergistic herbs it results in extra therapeutic effectiveness and is a more powerful treatment than any one component taken alone.

Triphala contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds that gently cleanses and detoxifies the body without irritating the colon. It also strengthens and nourishes the bones, nervous system and reproductive organs. In recent years, a number of research studies have found that it may help protect against certain cancers, reducing mutated cellular growth and be useful for noise and stress induced conditions.

When used as a digestive tonic or laxative, it is best taken in the evening, about two hours after eating, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. No food should be eaten for one and a half hours after ingestion.
