We source our freshwater pearls as ethically as possible, though we recognise that any animal-derived ingredient involves some degree of exploitation, and pearl farming is not an exception. Within that, we choose suppliers who follow strict welfare standards: during harvesting, the mussels are protected and carefully returned to their natural habitat rather than harmed or discarded, supporting more sustainable practices than conventional pearl harvesting. Our pearls come from Zhejiang province, China, the world’s largest source of freshwater pearls.
