Flax crackers are one of the most well loved raw food basics.
After dehydrating it becomes nice and crunchy, perfect for that snack craving 😉
Flax seeds contain a good amount of omega 3 which is super important for many things including cardiovascular and brain health. It has anti-inflammatory properties and you need to monitor the ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 for an optimal health.
Because most of plant based omega 3 fats are ALA (Alpha-Linolenic Acid) it needs to be converted to EPA or DHA for the body to be able to use it efficiently. Only small amount of ALA can be converted to the usable form so you still need to watch out for how much omega 6 you are consuming.
Flax seeds are not only a good source of omega 3 fats, they also have a healthy water-soluble fiber, lignin, which can reduce your risk of breast and prostate cancers.
Sun-dried tomato that I used here are the ones I dehydrated myself. I recommend getting a good organic tomatoes in season and dehydrate yourself. They taste much better and cheaper too.
I made these crackers for our Valentine’s dinner and served with cultured cashew cheese, beetroot dip, preserved lemon and beetroot ravioli
