In the last post, I wrote about what autophagy was and some things we can do to induce this process.
In this post, you will learn about the many benefits of autophagy.
HOW YOUR CELLS BECOME TOXIC
There are two ways to accumulate byproducts: Normal byproducts and dangerous byproducts.
Normal byproducts happen in daily life. Breathing, building and repairing new tissues and cells, the body’s metabolism, and energy production can all create these normal byproducts.
Dangerous byproducts are the result of external factors, such as poor diet, toxins and chemicals in the air, skincare or cleaning products, chronic stress, lack of sleep and many other modern stressors that we have to deal with. These byproducts can change a cell’s structure and have been linked to many diseases.
Our body is amazing. We have a natural process to remove these chemicals, however, we are bombarded by these dangerous byproducts more than ever before.
Your body’s natural ability to activate autophagy slows down, meaning that your body is less able to clean out these damaged cells and repair them.
The damaged proteins accumulate and start to affect cells that are healthy. Your cells are not functioning as well as before leading to cardiovascular problems, less able to fight off infection and inflammation and decreased fibroblasts, and collagen production which makes your skin look dull.
BENEFITS OF AUTOPHAGY
- PROVIDING CELLS WITH MOLECULAR BUILDING BLOCKS AND ENERGY
Mitochondria undergo an autophagy called mitophagy, building new and stronger mitochondria that can produce more cellular energy.
- PROTECTING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND ENCOURAGING THE GROWTH OF BRAIN AND NERVE CELLS
Autophagy can help protect brain cells by properly removing damaged and misfolded cells. For example, in Alzheimer’s disease, autophagy helps to remove the protein amyloid, and, in Parkinson’s, it helps to remove ⍺-synuclein. There is a new idea that dementia goes hand in hand with diabetes. A constant high blood sugar can prevent the activation of autophagy.
- PROMOTES HEART HEALTH
autophagy may be able to remove the cholesterol that accumulates in artery walls, thereby potentially reversing atherosclerosis
- PROTECTING DNA
Genomic instability is the main factor for carcinogenesis and plays an important role in neurodegenerative diseases and ageing. Autophagy has been reported to prevent genomic instability, as well as in participating in DDR and cell fate decisions after DNA damage. Genomic stabilizing functions of autophagy include mitochondrial quality control and reduction in ROS, defence against cellular carcinogenic pathogens, degradation of overexpressed or misfolded proteins and engulfment of micronuclei and damaged nuclear parts.
- ENHANCES MUSCLE PERFORMANCE
Along with healthy energy production autophagy along with fasting boosts the production of Human Growth Hormone, which is associated with increased healthy muscle growth and ageing benefits.
- POTENTIALLY PREVENTING AGE-RELATED DISEASES
Because of the HGH production, reduction of inflammation autophagy is a powerful way to make sure you are healthily ageing. Autophagy is a mechanism whose main function is to preserve your life, and maximize repair while minimizing damage, which, in turn, limits inflammation and promotes longevity.
- PROMOTES SMOOTHER HEALTHIER YOUTHFUL SKIN
If autophagy cannot get activated It’s less likely to be able to repair the skin cells as needed. This results in inflammation, damage and a decrease in fibroblasts, and collagen production. it’s less likely to be able to repair the cells associated with skin and with ageing.
- STRENGTHEN IMMUNITY and CLEARS PATHOGENS, VIRUSES, BACTERIA
Autophagy modulates the immune system including natural killer cells, macrophages, dendritic cells and T and B lymphocytes. Autophagy clears pathogens, viruses and bacteria acting as a bridge both innate and adaptive immune systems.
It is an exciting area to explore and the balance of Growth and Cleansing is essential to have a healthier life.
Our Advanced reset is based on Fast Mimicking Diet which is scientifically shown to induce autophagy.
