RAW VEGAN RECIPE – SNICKERS BAR

Before sharing the best raw vegan snickers bar recipe, can we just talk about the ingredients of “real” snickers bars?

You see milk chocolate is the first ingredient. I suppose that is why people think chocolate is not good for you. The main ingredient in their chocolate is…. yep you guessed it  SUGAR.

That is just a start of it all. Soy lecithin (probably GMO), Palm oil, Partially hydrogenated soybean oil (very unstable and oxidising  fat) and artificial favour as well as isolated and processed ingredients such as skim milk, lactose…

Ingredients Declaration: MILK CHOCOLATE (SUGAR, COCOA BUTTER, CHOCOLATE, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, MILKFAT, SOY LECITHIN, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR), PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP, SUGAR, PALM OIL, SKIM MILK, LACTOSE, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL, SALT, EGG WHITES, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR.

When i was researching I came across a few articles (mainly anti-carbohydrate opinions) stating that when digested snickers bars, bananas and even other carbohydrate-rich fruits and vegetables all contribute to health problems. Putting them in one categories doesn’t seem right to me.

MARS Inc sell 2 billions of these Snickers bars every year. 2 BILLIONS OF THEM! They also own many other confectionary food companies like Milky Way, Skittles, M&Ms and has many unethical behaviours reported in the past (such as animal testing, non-transparency regarding the ingredients, unethical worker’s environment etc. Our action does count though. They have started labelling their GMO produced ingredients recently and working towards more sustainable practices)

Anyway…. Whatever these big corporations are promoting and we can do our bit to promote healthier alternatives. Make these snickers bars and share the love. All your friends and families will thank you
