Dokudami, also known as Heartleaf is highly regarded traditional healing herb. Known as a “cure all remedy” and “ten drugs in one” in Japanese, korean and Chinese herbal medicine it has many reported benefits. Dokudami has excellent inhibitory effects on histamine release.
The biological compounds of Dokudami was found to be an excellent free radical scavengers. Dokudami contains polyphenols that are drawn through electromagnetic and circulatory forces to free radicals, helping to neutralize them. Dokudami has been shown to fights a variety of harmful bacteria. But it is particularly effective at fighting two species of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermis, which are known to contribute to acne.
