Organic Ashitaba

Often referred to as the  ‘Anti-Ageing’ Plant”, or “Longevity Herb”, this Japanese perennial is rich in nutrients including a flavonoid (or a plant-based disease-fighting nutrient) called 4,4-dimethoxychalcone (DMC). Ongoing research indicates Ashitaba could slow cell degeneration, or cell aging.

Full Description

Ashitaba (Angelica keiskei,) has long been known as Longevity Herb as traditionally it has been used as a rejuvenating food. Ashitaba means ‘tomorrow's leaf’ because of its vitality when harvesting one leaf from the plant, you can expect to see a new one tomorrow. It is said to be full of healing energy and has been harvested for food and medicinal purposes for centuries. Ashitaba has shown a wide range of health benefits but historically folk medicine uses Ashitaba to restore and promote longevity. It is also used to treat colds, flus and other infection as well as improving digestion. It is a known antioxidant and has anti inflammatory, anti-tumour, and anti-diabetic effects.

Ashitaba is native to Hachijo-jima Island in Japan. It was thought that Ashitaba was the reason for the long lives of the people of Hachijo-jima Island, something that may be based on its substantial levels of vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, C, E, B6 and B12, carotene, iron, calcium, potassium, chalconoids, fibre and chlorophyll.

It is rare feat to find so many nutrients in one plant especially vitamins B 6 and B12.
